Chapter 2 of Tompkins, Developing Strategic Writers lays out the writing process and various strategies teachers should explicitly instruct, model, facilitate collaboration in, as well as help students independently apply. The chapter certainly reiterates the importance of addressing the writing process and incorporating strategies that create "capable" writers.
